It's been a while since we talked makeup here on LIVISH. We're all about minimal and glowy makeup so the recent makeup trend, Strawberry Girl Makeup, is right up our alley
We know, We know. First it was a latte and now it's fruit! But hear us out because it's actually the perfect fresh face look for this unrelenting summer heat.
This charming look draws its inspiration from the delicate hues of ripe strawberries – soft pinks, vibrant reds, and warm earthy tones. For women of color, achieving this look requires a thoughtful selection of shades that complement rich and diverse skin tones. In this guide, we will walk you through the steps tailored specifically for melanin!
Step 1: Even Out Your Complexion
Start with a primer that addresses your skin's specific needs to create a smooth base for your makeup. Choose a concealer that is light enough that it won't melt off but good enough to even out your skin tone – this way you're enhancing your natural beauty rather than masking it.
Step 2: Blush is the Key
Since we are mimicking the rosy glow of ripe strawberries selecting the right blush shade is crucial. Don't be shy and lean into those berry and red shades. Apply the blush to the apples of your cheeks and blend it gently upwards for a radiant effect.
We highly recommend a cream or liquid formula (they look natural and perform well in humidity). Here are great options:
Summer Fridays: Blush Balm + Cheek Stick in Heat Wave
Glossier: Cloud Paint in Spark
e.l.f.: Monochromatic Multistick in Luminous Berry
MERIT: Flush Balm in Persimmon
Step 3: Define Your Eyes
Eyes aren't the focal point but you do need a little something going on. Shape your brows however you would to get a natural feathery brow. On the lids keep it simple with a bit of bronzer or blush over your eyelids - this depends on if your prefer a more muted or want the full rosey look. Apply 1-2 coats of mascara.
Step 4: Strawberry Lips
Some tutorials recommend going with a bold red lip but this is where we say skip it. But since we are going for flushed and natural the trick is a red or pink lip liner. Look for lip liner with warm undertones that complement your skin tone. Line the lips and feather out and top that with a clear or pinky/nude lip gloss.

Step 5: Glowing Skin
To achieve the radiant, dewy finish hit the high points of your face – the tops of your cheekbones, the bridge of your nose, and your cupid's bow – with a cream/liquid highlighter . Blend in to achieve a natural glow.
Step 6: Set It in Place
To ensure your look stays flawless all day, use a setting spray that helps lock in the look without making your skin appear matte.
The goal of the Strawberry Girl makeup is to show off and enhance your natural features. By choosing blushes, eyeshadows, and lip colors that harmonize with your skin tone, you can capture the essence of this look. Remember, makeup is an art, and adapting trends to suit your individuality is what truly makes it your own.
